Second Tuesday: Ed Waugh, A Funny Thing Happened on The Road to Utopia: North East History and The Art of The Political Playwright
July 10 @ 7:00 pm
This is a joint event with Education 4 Action.
Ed Waugh has written around 35 professional stage shows and plays, some of which have been performed throughout the world.
Ranging from commercial comedy hit Dirty Dusting to (co-written with Trevor Wood) to overtly political plays like Maggie’s End (co-written with Trevor) and The Accidental Activist , Ed has been responsible for bringing forgotten North East heroes to the stage, like Harry Clasper (Hadaway Harry), Ned Corvan (Mr Corvan’s Music Hall) and in September his new play (with music) will tour the region, celebrating Joe Wilson (The Great Joe Wilson), “The Bard of Tyneside” . He is currently working on a play about North East women’s football during World War 1, called The Lyon’s Roar, which is yet another incredible story about forgotten working class history.
