It will be of real interest to anyone involved in local history. \nThe topic is the story of a successful campaign led by a remarkable local woman\, Jennie Shearan\, in the fight for clean air. It was an inspiring victory won against the odds\, a struggle based on rallying the local community in Hebburn against one of the worst polluters in the region\, Monkton Coke Works. It is a story that has many positive lessons for today.
