Magic Hat Café, Newcastle. ‘Testimonies’, a film created as part of the Food for Thought: Newcastle Corn Riots 1740 project

30 November 2022 @ 19:00 - 21:00

Shoe Tree Arts invites you to the Magic Hat Café, Higham House, Higham Place, NE1 8AF on 30th November 7pm for the launch of ‘Testimonies’, a film created as part of the Food for Thought: Newcastle Corn Riots 1740 project. It will be shown with a film of the song ‘Geordie Barleycorn’ also written and produced for the project.

Testimonies commemorates and explores the events of 1740 when food shortages led to demonstrations and riots on Newcastle Quayside and makes parallels with today’s issues of food poverty, climate change and the right to peaceful protest.

There will be films, refreshments, hot and cold drinks and a chance to chat, ask questions and celebrate the culmination of the project.

All welcome
