In this session, Donna Chambers, Professor of Creative and Cultural Industries at Northumbria University will discuss the origins of the African Lives in Northern England project focusing on its aims, why it was considered necessary, and also the process of collaboration and decision-making which led to the publication of an educational booklet in 2021.

She will also provide an overview of three of the African lives included in the booklet both historic and contemporary – Archie Sibeko, Celestine Edwards and Chi Onwurah. Here’s the link:
