Following last year’s successful event St Michael’s Branch Labour Party are hosting their second Social History Conference on Saturday 18 November at the Hope Street Xchange in Sunderland from 9.30am to 4.45pm.

Boasting a panel of 4 expert speakers from Durham University and Newcastle University, the conference is a way of bringing knowledge and expertise of academic historians to the general public and is open to all who have an interest in, and want to be challenged, by history.

Topics covered will be as follows:

The Chartist Movement and the Formation of the TUC – Dr Victoria Clarke
Keir Hardie and the Founding of the Labour Party – Dr Andrzej Olechnowicz
Ramsay Macdonald and the National Government – Dr Matt Perry
The Labour Movement during the Second World War – Dr Martin Parr

Tickets are £25 including lunch and refreshments.
